Student Offers Advice for Surviving Dead Week and Finals

As the month of November advances, dead week draws closer. With your mind focused on the holidays, it is difficult to remain focused and survive dead week. It is stressful, but with just a few preparations, you can fly through dead week and finish strong. Here are some suggestions.

Our Actions as Christians Speak so Much Louder Than Our Words

I appreciated Michael Bellew’s letter to the editor in the last issue of The Oracle. The unsportsmanlike conduct he witnessed at that particular intramural football game is symptomatic of a much broader societal problem involving how Christians should behave when engaging in competition in general,

Intramural Competition Should Reflect Our Faith

The average Oral Roberts University intramural competitor invests practice, sweat, blood, tears, determination, passion, and pride into intramural games.

However, intramurals on campus seem to be the singularity where each individual forgets their main identity is not as a D1 athlete, but it is their Christianity. Where can the line be drawn between “going hard,” “being mean,” and genuinely “being inhumane?”

Government must protect its people

Editor:
American Government has legislated morality since its inception. Thou shall not murder, thou shall not steal. It is not that government cannot legislate a set moral system. In fact, a standard is necessary for making laws.
The line between legislature and personal freedom is clearly this: if it affects the public, the government -- the job of which is to protect and govern the people -- has the right to legislate. If it only affects the individual, this falls under personal freedom/accountability. Hence, the United States has laws against murder and drunk driving that no one contests; and it does not have laws against pornography or homosexual unions (until they are proven detrimental to society).
