Senior women's basketball trioThe season may have ended for the ORU women’s basketball senior trio, but their story isn’t over.

However, the next step differs depending on which senior you ask. Kevi Luper, Jaci Bigham and Savanna Buck are all graduating in May.

ORU Seniors Kevi Luper, Jaci Bigham and Savannah Buck hold the Southland Conference tournament trophyFour years ago Savannah Buck, Jaci Bigham, and Kevi Luper arrived on the campus of Oral Roberts University as freshmen. This class of players fully expected to reach the NCAA tournament each of the next four years, but things wouldn’t go as planned. In 2009 they lost an overtime heartbreaker to South Dakota State University. In 2010 Jaci Bigham suffered a season-ending knee injury. In 2011 they were eliminated in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. Needless to say this group had unfinished business.

With a win in Saturday’s game against Central Arkansas, the ORU women’s basketball team could clinch the second seed in the Southland Conference Tournament. But there were bigger things to come for ORU. The top seed in the tournament and a share of the regular season conference championship were still obtainable.

In order to get a share of the regular season championship, ORU needed Sam Houston State to get upset by Northwestern State. Coming into

the day, Sam Houston was first in the standings and Northwestern was eighth.
